Baptism of Infants

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation incorporating  the individual into the Body of Christ. In the gospel according to John, Jesus says, I am the vine and you are the branches. Baptism unites us to Christ and welcomes us into the Church.

The Church has from early in its life baptised infants based on the faith of the child's parents. For baptism to be celebrated at St. Therese at least one parent needs to be a baptised Catholic.

Celebration of Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of the month at the 9:00am Mass.

Godparents
The Church allows for a maximum of two (2) godparents only.

At least one godparents must a Catholic who is baptised and confirmed. They should be active in the practice of that Catholic faith and should be present in your child's life.

The other godparent may be a baptised Christian.
